As a state party to the Genocide Convention, The Kingdom of The Netherlands files a Declaration of Intervention in the ICJ case of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel). Bravo. This means they support the case and South Africa. https://www.icj-cij.org/sites/default/files/case-related/192/192-20260311-int-01-00-en.pdf
I guess this is something every country that signed and ratified the Genocide Convention has already done and The Netherlands is late, but not too late. (Rhetorical question. I know many countries have decided to stay silent)
The first EU country to file an intervention was Spain, back in 2024. Ireland and Belgium were next. And finally The Netherlands. Hungary also filed one but you can guess in which direction that one goes. And that's all. No other EU member state filed. See all interventions at https://www.icj-cij.org/case/192/intervention
INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

@jwildeboer

From what I can tell, and please correct me if I am wrong, the Netherlands filled this on the 11th of March 2026.

Iceland, Namibia, the United States of America, Hungary, Fiji have also recently filled their declarations.

INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

@Aprazeth Yes, and for example Germany (among many other countries) did not. The court set the limit for filing (after a few extensions) to the 12th of March 2026, so The Netherlands filed close to that deadline.

@jwildeboer

True, I am still glad that the government did. Even if at the deadline.

@jwildeboer @Aprazeth Germany is having problems generalizing the principal that genocide is bad, even when they aren't doing it. It's extremely German of them.
@quinn The US has no problems, it seems It simply declares "To avoid any doubt, the United States affirms, in the strongest terms possible, that the allegations of “genocide” against Israel are false." in their intervention. Case closed. @Aprazeth

@jwildeboer

The ruling will, extremely likely, be a moment that a lot of countries and people will need to reconcile with themselves on where they stood and how they acted.

@quinn

@jwildeboer @Aprazeth to be fair, the asshats running America have no concept of law whatsoever. They don't give a shit about anyone or anything beyond their own appetites. And the long term suffering most Americans go through distorts their sense of reality.

@jwildeboer

The Rights Forum has this page about it :

@jwildeboer details needed. I have an instinctive lack of trust of Western governments now.
@tadbithuman I linked to the full document and you can find a link to a first interpretation in the replies. If you demand details from me, my apologies. I have other things to do right now :)
@jwildeboer Thank you! I have read through it now. It is the actual submissions that states will make later that will matter more, so I think. I hope the Court can publish its findings soon, before Palestine is erased from the face of the earth.
