For the last two weeks, a Sicilian Redditor named ItalianSausage2023 has been digitizing classic musical SNL performances from their own VHS collection. The audio and video quality's great, better than most copies of these recordings online—if they exist at all. https://www.reddit.com/user/ItalianSausage2023/submitted/
This Neil Young performance of "Rocking in the Free World" from 1989 is electric. https://www.reddit.com/r/neilyoung/comments/1rr8x9g/neil_young_1989_snl/
@andybaio Thanks for that. Had to turn it up and search for better speakers. :D
@andybaio Show this to your grand kids when they ask where grunge came from.
@andybaio hell yeah, dudes rock

@andybaio this is one of the first SNL episodes I watched live on air (well, three hour tape delay)

I remember thinking Neil looked impossibly old for a rocker.

I’m now 5 years older than he was at the time.

👴

@andybaio I remember watching this and being blown away. The great Steve Jordan on drums and I think Chris Drayton on bass, who's also a great drummer. Thanks for sharing this!
@andybaio it seems insane to be posting these to reddit instead of youtube?
@cultdev YouTube's ContentID automatically takes down SNL clips. Look what they had to do to the Prince video here to keep this one up! https://youtu.be/2nEg4gmfBpo But here it is on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/DaveChappelle/s/XBPILbgyyk
