For years I've been thinking on and off about UBI (universal basic income). Lately I've been pondering the replacement of workers with automation. Particularly AI (dubious though it is, lately)

And i think I've come up with a new term: UBAI: universal basic automation income.

What is it? It's an amount of money every person of age gets paid every month. It comes from a tax levied on heavy automation that replaces people with skills.

It does not have to be 1:1, details would have to...

... Be worked out by unions and the state.

Why? As more and more workers are replaced by automation, investors and owners get more money from saving it on wages, meanwhile the people who carried them for so long struggle to get employment, while not getting a slice of the pie.

This is especially true with the shit show that is gen AI.

UBAI
