I feel this linked trending Mastodon post is a massive disservice to our youth. If you look at voting intentions in the UK it’s the over 50s voting for climate denial, racism, genocide, and oligarchy funded political parties.

Where has the globally informed, future wise electorate been for future generations, since forever?

@nspugh Both me & my OH are over 50, we don't vote for any climate denial, racism, genocide or oligarchy funded parties

We vote Green

But that's just two of us ☹️

@staringatclouds @nspugh I do worry that being white and over 60 is now becoming a target. I have never been a fascist or denied climate change. I have spent the last 20 years moaning about climate injustice and social injustice. It’s my voice that has educated younger people to understand whats at stake.
So lay off older people - it’s not about older people it’s about some people.
@buarth @staringatclouds of course its not all over 50 and white. I’m over 50 and white too, it’s just what the polling says.
@nspugh @staringatclouds I wasn’t implying that it was your opinion 😁 I have just noticed a marked increase in the statements. Perhaps there are 2 things to consider; a) Is this a deliberate ploy by the media to create division and thereby try and stop the growth of the Greens? b) is there a demographic that might explain the situation? So people who traditionally voted conservative came from wealthy backgrounds and they tended to live longer than those who voted Labour.
