PSA: If you pay someone to file your taxes, please don’t confront your tax preparer as to why the numbers don’t match with the numbers you got from chatGPT. If you don’t trust us, do it yourself.
K thanks.

@erin oof.
On the one hand, lazy lawyers submitted stuff to courts so this shouldn't surprise me. On the other hand, I'm amazed at how effective the marketing BS around LLMs is that people truly believe the output as much as they do.
@fennix One guy came in last week with a pretty accurate list of what credits he should ask about, which is totally fine.
However, today someone came in with an AI generated refund amount double what their actual refund amount was. And it wasn’t just a simple t1 return. Trying to explain to someone why their refund is what it is when they know little about taxes is hard enough; competing with AI as the (inaccurate) tax preparer is infinitely worse.
It amazes me how reliant we’ve become on genAI for accurate outputs.
Every time some big business shift like this happens I'm reminded why humans invented alcohol and similar substances.
Staring at the inanity knowing you can't change the tide is just needlessly aggravating and stressful.
