#MacOS is my second best.

Regular followers know I am a long-term #Linux user, and I hate #Windows11…

Getting prepared for a job at the mixing console I just booted up my #Waves #SuperRackPerformer setup, which runs on a #MacMiniM1 with a #RME #DigifaceDante. Basically, it's for using Waves #plugins live.

X-FDBK fights feedback when used with care, and PSE reduces bleed from drums into vocal mics, and since my #AllenHeathSQ5 has only one insert per channel, I also like to use the de-esser of Waves.

This setup doesn't pay off, but it improves my life on occasion, and the last occasion was a few months ago.

If you boot up a #Windows 11 installation that was last run several months ago, it's simply impossible to work with it.

MacOS however… comes up, logs into the Wifi, gets date and time right, I pop into Superrack Performer and everything works – this is Apple!

(That I had to spend over 150€ for a third-party touch screen driver… that's also Apple then.)

🧵 So, more grumbling regarding #Windows11…

… it's simply not bearable. My wife is about to buy a used #MacBook, since she doesn't want to use #Linux. And Windows 11 is also not an option for her, who is btw not a computer nerd.

It's crazy, because like some years ago, #Apple were the bad guys hindering people to use open source, and they still are… still trying to lock everybody in into their Apple universe. It's just that #Microsoft has become so much worse.

And Apple seem to know that people hate Windows 11, and the new #MacBookNeo addresses exactly this. Cheaper price point than usual, serviceable with a screw driver, very long battery life. MacOS.

As far as I am concerned, even #Windows10 in #Virtualbox becomes enshittified with its very last updates, programs just stop working, most importantly #DanteController that just crashes… I am considering running #macOS in VirtualBox now. It feels quite sick.

🧵 Adding to this, since I had some Dante stuff going on with @thunfisch … #DanteVirtualSoundcard in #Windows10 is not running stable. (It is banned from running in #VirtualBox, but I actually have one old laptop with #Windows 10.)

It runs stable on my almost dead #MacBookPro 2017.
