So, I was curious and this has been part of my on-going spleunking.

They're releasing a Ganbare Goemon collection, which includes the Famicon, Super Famicon and GameBoy games. That’s pretty cool.

Shame the collection doesn't include the N64 titles!

The likelihood is that this won't get a translation and released outside of Japan, just because of the number of games that would need to go through the translation process.

Still, it is great to see Konami still acknowledge the series!

@ishambard Yeah, it’s really too bad nobody outside Japan’s going to have easy access to these games. I want a wide release of the DS game (which won’t happen).

But it *is* nice to see a company acknowledging a fallow series. I’m even glad they didn’t feel the need to revamp the art. The original art holds up

Edit: still groggy. First or second N64 title? (I don’t know the second well, myself)

@EscGoat

At this moment in time, I have no idea! I am only starting to descend into the franchise anew.

There is an interesting looking JRPG I am looking forward to playing, but I'll need to be in the right mood to play that 😅

I recently beat Legend of the Mystical Ninja, working on trying to do a Deathless run at the moment, which is proving to be a very tense and frustrating experience.
Other than that, it is a great game, honest!

@ishambard I didn't realize you were new to the series! Good luck with the deathless run! That game's fun but imo it isn't easy

If you have time and inclination, I do recommend the first N64 game—it's got charm

@EscGoat

I played the first N64 one, like, years ago when I was a kid (probably when I was 8 or 9). But even now, the entire thing is more like a fever dream than an actual memory.

I vaguely remember some bits, but my main memory was the first Impact sequence and boss fight 🤣

@ishambard Yeah, the game having the showstopping number for the giant robot's introduction adds to that fever dream feeling XD
