w-what are you supposed to do here. do i need to include a sample of richard stallman saying that the song is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind?

serious question btw.

i'm not actually legally obliged to make a copy publicly available but here's the song with all the relevant source code

https://dump.dequis.org/indexed/amenbreak/

this song is distributed in the hope that it will be useful,

@dx incredibly funny license for audio whys it not cc omg
@dx you're not required to make it publicly available.
but if you do, then you're supposed to either publish the "Corresponding Source", (whatever that means in this context) or make a written offer to send it.
@val omg i didn't even realize the part about "legally obliged to make a copy publicly available" is just plain wrong
@dx using the GPL for media is truly diabolical
@gsuberland @dx Even I'd agree for that; it was never intended for that, wth provided those drum samples?
@dx the answer is you use a different sample instead :)
@dx release it without drums and allow the listener to dynamically link their own drum sounds in

(serious answer: I read it as "you have to let people share/remix your song", but IANAL. I would have chosen CC SA or something if I wanted that.)
@dx general percussive license
@emily @dx i am 1000% into this idea
@emily @dx presumably you’d also have to share the source files (“the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it”), not just the “compiled” mp3
@emily @dx (oops this has very much been discussed elsethread)
@dx just ignore it, nobody cares \o/

@dx woah so cool, the GPL license will let me use your project in my ai powered military drone project! GPL is so cool!

I happily ignore GPL, but I *will* abide to any serious license that protect minorities and worker's rights
