One of my favourite ultra-portable Mac laptops is the Dell Inspiron Mini 10v. It’s cute and it’s tiny and even now it says 4.5 hours of battery time. The screen is a bit short so some things don’t quite fit, but it’s an excellent Snow Leopard machine! #MARCHintosh #hackintosh
I cobbled thing thing together because every one of Apple’s laptops had gotten too big. I wanted something small to carry around. And then eventually the 11” Air came out and it was glorious :D
@billgoats Similar path here, actually. I think my first Air was the successor to that Netbook experiment. That one I definitely still have and I remain a fan of the wedge shape to this day.
@billgoats I still have and use my 11-inch Air. It’s wonderful.
@nygl Just imagine if they brought back that form factor, but with the small small bezels of today!
@billgoats Needs a clean is what. :) I even replaced the battery and put the SSD out of my 2013 Mac Pro into it to give it more life.
@nygl Replaced the battery in mine as well, and it wasn't nearly as terrifying as I was expecting!
@billgoats I might run BlackMagic Disk Speed test on it. How fast can an old MacBook Air get.

@billgoats was useless to do anything on tho. I have one somewhere.

The MacBook, was my fav (stupid name. The 12’)

@an0key Useless? Pfft! I used to lay out magazines on this thing when I wasn't at home!
@billgoats I remember it being so slow! But did build a few for friends too. I wonder where my one is.
@an0key It's a netbook so was never going to be ~great~, but for an ultra-portable Mac in the days before they were ultra-portable, it was pretty decent as a secondary machine for outside the house. A friend gave me her old one a while back and it runs Haiku like a champ!
@billgoats I made loads of these for fiends back in the day! It was the best Hackintosh hands down.
@billgoats I had one of these, and loved it all too briefly. Thanks for the reminder, I never thought to take photos
@billgoats I had forgotten until I saw this that one of the only Hackintosh boxes I ever built was on one of these (or a very similar) Dell Netbook. I wonder if I still have that in a bin somewhere in the basement... hhhmm...

@billgoats Nice! I have one of those that I used to Hackintosh as well. It was my travel laptop. Worked just fine for some light Xcode development on the go for a time. :)

It's currently sitting on the floor next to my desk with Haiku on it. I was using it for some writing tasks a month or two ago. The battery still works great all these years later. :D

@billgoats nice. I ran OS X in my msi wind back in the day. Let’s just say it was no MacBook Neo
