Nini@royaards@newsie.social It does make sense for how our small community-geared (as in "small communities, not "small and also communities") brains work. X amount of deaths in a far-off country we are powerless to do anything about doesn't move the needle because it's too abstract. Prices that we pay though, that's immediate and does affect how we react.
It is horrible, we need to do more but there's learned helplessness, fear of retribution should you try to fight back and good ol' "I'm alright, Jack" logic among other things, it's not making excuses but highlighting the things we need to overcome.

And! We'll be able to do it with minimal "friendly" casualties but...yes, there is always a "but"...the robot losses may be severe.
We'll learn to usefully lament *their* grisly deaths too tho! Just to keep the righteous anger levels up to a properly useful patriotic level.
