I'm so grateful for living in #Ireland.
We have a lot of problems - housing, medical, and financial.

So yes, it's not perfect.
Our recent history was plagued with terrorism but thankfully, it's in the past.

So I cannot imagine what it must be like to be an #American citizen and face the fact that last week, my country murdered over 160 children with one missile..

Honestly, I think I would revoke my citizenship.

Yeah. It’s not pleasant for anyone with a conscience. My wife and I have joked for ages about running away to Canada (we live across Lake Ontario), and after a 30th anniversary trip to Ireland, that’s looking pretty good too. I’m feeling a little misanthropic currently—humans have thoroughly bunged up the world, and maybe we ought to give another species a chance. Corvids are pretty smart. Maybe elephants.
@artgeek well all I can say is that you would be welcome here but when you talk about giving another species a chance, maybe we should put women in charge first? I mean us men have had 10000 years and still managed to fuck everything up so surely it couldn't be any worse.
@TheComfortableSpotPo[email protected] You could make a pretty good case for men being a mutant species.

FWIW, my great grandfather was William Imrie Mann from Dundee, which is another place I need to visit, although I’m never sure if I should admit that to an Irishman.

My distant cousin was William Tryon, who was a governor and British enforcer in the colonies. He was also a dick. They sent us their best, kinda like they did to the Irish. 🙄
