I know this won't be a popular take here, as they're local radical darlings. But the municipal elections are coming up, and I'm curious if #bij1 has changed their stance on the russian invasion of Ukraine?

Or is does it still boil down to "colonialism is only bad if The West does it" and "let's negotiate with fascists, they'll surely listen to our hippie drum circles"?

They lost my vote in the previous elections because of bad takes they were posting on social media, and I ended up not voting at all. And it felt extremely disappointing, because, apart from this, it's the only party that felt worth voting for.

@boreal that has never been the case. Any imperialism or colonialism (or form of capitalism) is bad.

We just don't think that arming everybody to the teeth is a brilliant idea. That has never brought peace.

You can also serve tea with a poisoned cookie ;) More seriouly though: we shouldn't´t condone the undoing of international law and there are other means that we have to our disposal than just military violence.

@vreer And anyone who believes that russia cares about international law or would accept any peaceful solution has not been paying much attention.

It's the equivalent of calling for dearmament and peace talks in 1939.

@boreal For the record, I have no trust *at all* in fascists of whichever origin. It fits here to say "neither Moscow nor Washington" Nor Beijing.

At the same time (to prevent a denying "but") I also know very well that the advanced armament requested and offered does not work to achieve anything but retaliation and thus another armament race. We HAVE to find other ways. We CANNOT afford us any war anymore.
Maybe all together we can be creative enough. Without trusting Russia any further than I can see their hands.

@vreer @boreal we could end all wars without guns, but only if we are have each other's back. Across the planet. But we don't. And billionaires pour a lot of money in propaganda to keep it this way.
