I honestly don't get how the upper class old money let Trump systematically destroy their money presses. These old rich families must know that their wealth depends on the stability of the political system and American hegemony.

Are they all so greedy and stupid that they don't see the money trees getting uprooted?

All these short term gains and quarter by quarter earnings reports have made them lose the plot.

@chu @rberger I keep saying that folks should think of what happened with the Titan submersible and the long and short of it is that the owner of the submersible and his wealthy passengers were so insulated from the problems that plague regular people that they really believed they could buy their way out of physics.

That’s what we’re dealing with and it’s really scary.

@MisuseCase @chu @rberger i mean when it comes to burning fossil fuels, we are all in the "Titan" submarine. This is why no individual human should have that much wealth, power and privilege, at some scale decisions go beyond what any individual is capable of being reaponsible/accountable for and should be made collectively, deliberately with representation from all stakeholders. That cant prevent the majority from going mad with delusions, but its a start to reduce risk
