Iran begins laying mines in Strait of Hormuz, sources say

Iran has begun laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s most important energy chokepoint that carries about one-fifth of all crude oil, according to two people familiar with US intelligence reporting on the issue.

@samlitzinger so I don't have an EOD expert on speed dial ... any guess who long the us navy takes to demine the strait? Weeks? Months?

@samlitzinger

Whether they claim to be or are actually doing it, the impact is the same - tankers won’t move because it’s too risky and insurance premiums prohibitive.

@samlitzinger

are we winning yet? (sarcastic)

@samlitzinger nah. It's all good. The prez said so. So it must be all good. /s
