We've been weaning ourselves off ordering things from Amazon, so my wife went and ordered something big from a different retailer, who was actually advertising it at a lower price than Amazon. Well, after a week of waiting for the item to ship, it suddenly just arrived. Turns out the order was fulfilled through Amazon anyway.
@briankrebs Yep... happens frequently to me. Aggravating, but also demonstrative of how well locked up Amazon has the market in some product categories.

I've run into some things like this lately. One was $500 for a box of #8 wood screws (quantity 100). Turns out that was for a half-gross of boxes -- which is actually a good price if you need 7200 screws.

The only indication was a tiny note you could only see if you expanded the "specifications" pulldown.

@AccordionBruce @MHowell @ai6yr @briankrebs @pluralistic well at least we haven't leapt right to the conclusion that it's child sex trafficking.
@AccordionBruce
