Normal web host navbar: domain names, hosting, dedicated servers, vps, support, account
Hetzner: robot, console, konsoleH, website
this message brought to you by the letter "why the hell do I have four different places to change my nameservers and two of them are called console but one's spelled with a K"
Theory: Hetzner hosting is cheap because their support costs are low, and their support costs are low because people who use Hetzner will press a LOT of buttons and snuffle through a LOT of menus before they give up and put in a support ticket, and Hetzner have these customers because everybody else bounced off while trying to figure out how to buy a thing

I have a .txt file in my notes folder reminding me how to use Hetzner's website

I don't have .txt files for how to use any other websites

Part of the problem is Hetzner have a different website for each page of their settings menu, and I think the newest one (console with a c) is supposed to be like One Website To Rule Them All but all it manages so far is to be even less scrutable

That one XKCD comic about 14 things and how we need one good thing and now there's 15 things

@ifixcoinops you probably figured this out by now, console is spelled Konsole in german.
I suspect zee germans are still chuckling about their naming scheme...
@ifixcoinops Have they 'innovated' hard enough to result in one of those websites where the back button breaks everything?
@ifixcoinops if only Hetzner was one big phat coin-op, aye?
@ifixcoinops that sounds like some sort of evil genius
@ifixcoinops Hetzner is cheap because they mostly use consumer hardware (e.g. CPU) and not server hardware.
Their support is imho very good and responsive.
Regarding the admin panels: I am with you, this is some rad shit. After years of using it I still do not find stuff on first try. 🥺
@ifixcoinops there's the console and then there's the konsoleH with a German Accent.
@zatnosk @ifixcoinops forever thinking about how there's a KDE minigolf game and it's called KOLF

@outie @ifixcoinops I've tried a sport called Krolf.

It's a mix between Croquet and Golf, but Croquet is spelled Kroket in Danish, so Krolf it is.

@ifixcoinops and here I was thinking that it was just me who didn’t understand @hetzner ‘s options, on account of knowing very little about hosting 🤔
