Chuck Schumer is spending corporate money to override his own party's voters in Maine — where the grassroots frontrunner leads by 38 points.

When did the Democratic establishment start crushing its own primaries?

Why Should Chuck Schumer Choose Maine’s US Senator?

Trying to stop a real democrat from being the party’s nominee, Schumer recruited Maine’s lame-duck, milquetoast governor to run against Platner, knowing she would not challenge the corporate order. He raised truckloads of corporate cash for her, hoping to suffocate the oysterman’s populist uprising.

@jimhightower @BlueDot I don’t know, it might be because he suspects (not without reason) that Platner, who has a troubling history with white supremacy, might do a Fetterman once elected.

@MisuseCase @jimhightower

I admit I was surprised by Fetterman.

But I'm far more willing to believe that Platner is sincere, than to believe that Chuck Schumer is suddenly standing up for progressive values.

@BlueDot @jimhightower Of course the Pod Save America guys like Platner.

Did they talk about how he had a white supremacist tattoo that he only had removed *after* he entered the Senate race and someone pointed it out? If he’d done his heel-face turn years before running for office I might be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he didn’t.

@BlueDot @jimhightower I sure don’t think Schumer is a progressive but he doesn’t want a barely reformed and possibly totally unreformed white supremacist to become part of his caucus.

Just because a guy is supposedly anti-establishment doesn’t mean he’s progressive or even decent. That kind of thinking is part of how we got Trump and Fetterman.
