@pluralistic, on page 133 of Enshittification you mention the cadre of Polish mathematicians at Bletchley Park, Jerzy Różycki, Henryk Zygalski, and Marian Rejewski as instrumental in breaking the Enigma code. I’ve never heard of them. Do you (or anyone else seeing this) know of any books telling their stories? I know there are books about the whole Bletchley Park endeavor, so if any of those include these folks I can start with those, of course. Any recommendations? Thanks.

There's a whole museum to them in Poznań, the Enigma Cipher Centre. The reason that you've never heard of them is that they were given (forced to take?) top-secret jobs behind the Iron Curtain after the war.
