Considering my mediocre morning, I managed to do episode 19 of the #GR5 from Diest to Lummen in Belgium. In continuous dry weather I left Diest using some of the fortifications, went past some of the embankments of the Demer river, a forest reminding me of the Campine from previous episodes. I expected 17,7 km, a route change made it 18,8 km. Next time the route continues to Wijvenheide!
Without tracking poles, I don’t need breaks to have a drink or something to eat, so the speed goes up. It shows today was an easy route.
@smveerman how does your speed go up when you don’t have your poles? Aren’t they to make it easier?
@h5e I have my hands free and can walk and drink at the same time, so I don’t have to sit down (I don’t put my tracker on pause during breaks because of the water lock).
@smveerman And you don’t want to sit down for a moment anyway? Die hard!
@h5e I was behind schedule for over an hour thanks to the train replacement bus this morning.
@smveerman
Wijvenheide, dat lijkt me een hoogtepunt in ieder wandelavontuur.
