Good lord. A few weeks ago, I parked in a private parking lot, tried to pay, noticed their app was down, and left. Now they're trying to charge me $95 for not paying for parking.

Sometimes Seattle sucks.

Filed a dispute since this is absolute bullshit. They claim they can take thirty days to respond, convenient for them.

Car culture sucks.

lolz, they didn't read the message at all, and completely ignored what I said about their app not working and that I actively was trying and failing to pay when it charged me.

It's not a "courtesy" to waive bullshit fines, I swear. These leeching fucks.

At least it's a resolution from whatever anonymous faceless corporation I somehow entered into a "contract" with by trying to fix their motherfucking app enough I could give them money.

Anyway, yeah, I'm venting, but also it's just such a microcosm of car culture sucking, landlord culture sucking, and shrinkwrap culture sucking. It's a kind of suck that shouldn't happen, not because it's so extreme or drastic, but because it only happens due to other things sucking very badly elsewhere in society.

Major problems in society also create room for small-time shitlords to act like dicks.

@xgranade Every time someone says cars offer freedom, I like to ask them what happens if they stop paying the loan or the lease or the insurance or if they stop doing maintenance or if gas is $10 a gallon or if they can't park somewhere or if they're stuck at home without it.

When I lived in New York, all I needed to go somewhere was my shoes, my Metrocard, and maybe a coat.

@xgranade Fuck these fucking cars.
@xgranade Is this one of the absentee landlords of parking lots and not good old Joe Diamond's family?
@jmeowmeow It's listed as an address in Florida, so I'm guessing the absentee kind.

My first job was a parking lot checker on the Diamond lots on Bainbridge Island near the ferry.

I formed a lot of opinions about cars, car alarms, and Bainbridge Island from that experience.
