@hteasley The "empathy gap" in politics is one of the most frustrating things to watch. It’s wild how often a policy is a "principled stance" until it personally knocks on someone's front door, and suddenly it's a "nuanced issue."
​The meme really hits on that lack of proactive compassion. It shouldn't take a personal tragedy to recognize the basic humanity or needs of other people. Seeing that shift happen only when it affects their own inner circle just highlights the hypocrisy.
