British Columbia, Canada just went to permanent DST.

So far, it seems no different than before. Maybe it’ll be different when others set their clocks back in 6 months.

Realistically, I can’t see it making much difference.

Didn’t California also follow suit?
California voters overwhelmingly approved the permanent shift several years ago. HOWEVER no one in the state assembly brought it up during the legislative session to ratify it, so nothing changed. Most frustrating display of incompetence for those of us who voted for it.
Same thing happened in BC and I believe in OR; the pacific states/province were working out a plan by which they’d all switch at the same time. BC apparently lost patience and just went ahead with it.

Purely anecdotal, but I work in 911 dispatch

And for a few days after the clocks change it always feels like we get a bunch of calls from/about people acting strangely.

My pet theory is that a lot of people with mental health issues are either really dependent on taking their meds at certain times, or just really need a steady routine to keep them stable, and in either case shifting things by an hour throws that all off.

And not for nothing, I work nights, and when I work the clock change, it’s nice when I get to work 1 hour less, but it absolutely does not make up for when I have to work an extra hour.

Don’t you love that feeling of having an absolute shit 0100-0159 and then watching the clock reset to 0100 again? I worked last fall when the clocks changed and a couple of us had just cleared calls at the hospital and we were standing around our ambulances talking. I happened to pull my phone out and watched the time tick from 0159-0100 and I was like “hey guys, that shitty hour we just had? We get to do it all over again!”

Yep.

Also not sure how they work it where you are, but as far as payroll goes we basically just pretend it doesn’t happen since the way our shift rotation works, if you work it in the spring you’ll work it again in the fall.

Fuck that, give me my hour of overtime for turning my 12 hour shift into a 13.

I have ADHD, and the time change fucks me up so bad. Makes me anxious and weird for days.
The Big Time lobby strikes again!
Not only should we get rid of it, we should find out who is responsible and punish them with sleep deprivation.
fuck these guyes… Having to change the timezone 2 times a year is just a nuisance.
The people who insist on conflating permant DST (where we switch once and never switch back) with permanently keeping the current model with all the health detriments involved is wild.

If we could keep falling back every year, but skipping the spring ahead, that would be great.

Eventually, my sleep schedule would be considered normal.

I hope everyone who wants to be on permanent DST experiences an eternity of the first day of spring forward, never rested again

…rude…
