I just read a sentence that referred to “the decades since” 2005 and I feel personally attacked.

Student: "Is it ok if I cite a paper from the last century?"

Teacher: Yes.

Student: "Williams and Jones' landmark paper in 1999 stated..."

Teacher: 😳
