Claude is an Electron App because we’ve lost native

Article argues that Claude is not an Electron app not because LLMs can’t do it, but because there are no advantages left for native

Semi-related, @raycast announced a new AI-powered desktop Mac app builder called Glaze. Haven't used it but the marketing looks pretty good.

@davatron5000 @nikitonsky Oof. I'm not sure that post really tells me the web platform won as much as we all lost because software mediocrity is endemic and tolerated. I lack the [citation needed] to refute that thesis.

@artlung @nikitonsky Yeah, for me it's about the "go anywhere-ness" of the web that's proven to be very powerful. And if you're a resource-limited engineering team (all of them?) that needs to roll out to different platforms, Electron (or similar) is probably the shortest path to get there.

I appreciate a good native app and would love to see more good ones, but a good web app I can use on any device is *[chef's kiss]*.

@davatron5000 @nikitonsky I never imagined AI was going to kill native but it makes a lot of sense now. 🤔
