Rant time.

I've now seen this fucking dialog in Slack FOUR TIMES THIS MORNING and it's not even noon yet. And there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it off from settings.

There are so many problems with this dialog that make me so angry this morning.

1) This "only options are Yes or Later" in tech is infuriating. Treat me better and offer me an option to say NO to shit I don't care about.

#Slack #UX

2) I don't understand why Slack is pushing so hard for me to not be on channels I don't read that often.

If I don't read them (because there hasn't been discussion), what bad is that causing? I am in them so that WHEN something is posted, I see it and can read it.

I would argue that's quite important in work context.

If I'm in more channels that I can handle or they are causing distraction without providing value, I'm more than capable of managing that myself.

@hamatti they might be talking about hiding them rather than removing you, which would be better. Still need a "no, fuck off button"

@hamatti Slack always felt like - at the end of the day - it was promoting itself over the end-productivity of its users. Even though it's supposed to be a productivity tool.

Like that thing with sending e-cards during the holidays... what on earth

And the way they've been promoting AI features where you can request them from your manager. It's like a supermarket's standards for promoting candy to children.. right at the end, child's height, right where the queue is.

@hamatti Yes, but you're not supposed to be _thinking_ and _making decisions_. That's Slack's job. You (and your company) are supposed to be _being engaged_ and _generating revenue_.
