I love my new phone.
I'm still getting to know it though.
So, people who have devices that allow such things, do you bother to set a charge limit?
If so, what do you set it to?
So far I have mine set to the defaults out of the box, but I want to get as much use out of this thing as I can...
@silly_singer From what I've read, 80% is the sweet spot.
@mcourcel I have been hearing that and also 90% so I am very curious what people I interact wit actually do. :)
@silly_singer @mcourcel So your phone will quick charge until it gets to 80%. At that point, it starts charging more slowly, and this is to preserve the age of the battery. This is how Apple describes charge cycles. So if I'm in a hurry, I'll stop charging my phone when it hits 80.
@Rosalyn @mcourcel Right, this is how optimized charging has worked for a while now.
What about limiting it to 80% for charging over all?
@silly_singer @mcourcel Not everyone knows about optimized charging, so I don't like to assume. There are two ways that I utilize my battery differently than some people:
1. I don't let my battery get to 0%. I plug it in at around 20% if possible.
Second, I like to top my battery up in the middle of the day, so I don't necessarily charge it to 100, but I'll charge it for short bursts before doing a complete charge later. I also carry a battery pack in my purse in case I need an emergency charge when I'm out and about. Between these three practices, I didn't see a need personally to limit my charge to 80%.
