Can someone explain why I am seeing the Threads post on the left rendered in that way until I click it, which then reveals the content (on right)? I’ve never seen this behavior on any platform.

@shoq @ralfmaximus It's also pretty similar to the blur effect in MFM (Misskey, Sharkey, Firefish etc), which "clears up" the text when you hover over it.

@shoq @ralfmaximus but also, in principle, I don't think it's that different from Content Warnings in fedi. Just served in a different way.

I like this approach because (unlike CW) you can read the whole thing maybe except for the spoilerly bit. Maybe only one or two words out of a post might be spoilers.

Two mechanisms to do similar things is very nice. Both can happily coexist.
