I love cross-pollinating ideas, and live hoping one day to find a combination that unlocks something useful for humanity.

Innovators throughout the ages have found ways to apply knowledge in one area of expertise to another domain to create breakthroughs. This series makes a strong case for "reasoning by analogy" and contrasts this with "first principles thinking".

See if this shift in perspective unlocks your inner genius.

Explore the fascinating world of polymaths, their methodologies, and the significance of First Principles thinking in innovation and creativity today.

@nonzerosumjames Good article, but unfortunately, I have to protest against the glorification of Musk. He used to be an interesting figure in the past; unfortunately, today he is exceptionally toxic. For the good of humanity, he should be forgotten.
@faleinspiracji Did you read all three parts? He gets taken to bits in part 3.
@nonzerosumjames Well, my mistake. I’ve now read the whole piece, and the Musk section definitely comes across better in the full context. However, the assessment of him there is still quite gentle. Mine would be much harsher. In any case, congratulations on the publication, and I’ll be keeping an eye on your posts. 🙂
@faleinspiracji I feel you. I’m particularly dark on Musk, as I was for a long time a fan-boy, who has now been disillusioned with his support of Trump, who is antithetical to all the reasons I had for liking Musk to begin with. The reason I’ve not been more condemning of him in the post is that I’m trying to make the point that “well-meaning” people can be mislead by a naive first principles approach. If I paint him as merely malicious or evil, it undermines my point.
