Been thinking about a way to harness the US President’s penchant for issuing impulsive changes that burn institutions and tradition down for no reason. It may be time to trick him into forcing the US onto the metric system. Convince his son in law that “Brits were ripping us off when they forced it on us in the 1492 Treaty of Leicester” or “Imperial measurements are just a tool used by East Coast liberals to make fun of Jesus” or something.

@wordman You mean liberating the US from the shackles of yet another meaningless tradition.

He's much lighter in kilograms than in pounds.

@adamshostack He’s only two and half in gigaseconds.
@wordman I tried this with a pet annoyance of mine. I even gave it a punchy, media-friendly name, the "imaginary income tax". Alas, while I got a reply from the Whitehouse I'm sure any MAGA hat would frame, it doesn't seem to have had any impact.
@wordman Call it the Trump System, done

@wordman Actually, the USA switched to the metric system many years ago. Executive Order 12770 was issued in 1991 by George H. W. Bush.

Except this was not made mandatory, and no one wanted to change. So if you pick up any package at the grocery store, you'll find the metric values listed prominently.

This happens quite often, when you include people in a system.
