Boom! Cancelled and deleted one of my Google accounts. I have one more Google account, and am forwarding e-mails until I can change all my other accounts to point to a non-Google e-mail address.

Interesting fact: when I deleted it, I had a temporary interruption on an *unrelated* account with a popup message that almost gave me a heart attack. Basic software functionality is hard even when you sit on billions of dollars with access to top talent, apparently.

@afilina what did you move to, if you don't mind me asking please?
@asgrim I only used it for e-mails with a custom domain, and that's way cheaper with Fastmail. I already started using Fastmail for phpc.tv, and quite liked it. Not as bloated as the other service.
@afilina thanks, Fastmail is on my list to try. I looked at self hosted options (for webmail client, not sending as such) but I wasn't a fan of any I saw. Need to try Fastmail πŸ‘
@asgrim @afilina can recommend mailbox.org if you are on the lookout for a hosted solution
@sephster @asgrim I actually tried mailbox.org and I don't recommend at all. I had nothing but headaches from day one. Slow, confusing UI, confusing billing, incorrect warnings that my account will be closed, cancelling was a PITA and I'm still chasing an invoice because their support is abysmal.
@afilina @sephster @asgrim FWIW the UI has improved recently - it was clanky before but I accepted that as a trade-off for them being a decent company. Never had to deal with support, billing is(was?) not recurring which is a feature or a bug I'm not sure.
@dantleech You mean in the last month? I tried it very recently.
@afilina No, looks like it was redesigned around September '25 (that seems far too long ago already): https://mailbox.org/en/news/mailbox-becomes-the-digitally-sovereign-workplace

@asgrim I migrated from Google Workspace to Fastmail in 2022 and I couldn’t be happier. I use multiple domains for one inbox, including an anonymous domain. The latter is what I use in tandem with 1Password to generate random e-mail addresses when I don’t want to give out one of my real addresses.
@asgrim @afilina I went for dockerized mailcow. Really happy so far 😊
