Investigating my daughter's Chromebook, I found that Chrome by default sends your ENTIRE browsing history to Google, all sites, everywhere on the web. (If you're signed in I guess, which you always are on a Chromebook.) This is something you can turn off by visiting https://myactivity.google.com/activitycontrols. How many people know about this? I stopped using Chrome myself a long time ago. It's no wonder the Google advertising machine is so effective. #google #chrome #surveillance

Is it? Do people actually buy products that are advertised to them?
@light The purpose of the Google advertising machine is to make money for Google. In that sense, it is successful. Whether or not the ads are of actual benefit to Google's customers is beside the point.
