Lost my TV remote control with the volume set on too high. Spent close to half an hour tearing the house to pieces looking for the remote, getting increasingly frustrated and angry.

And then I remembered that I could just walk up to the TV and press a button to turn the volume down.

Who knew. What magic.

@davidnjoku the things they can do with technology these days!

(speaking as someone who did something similar a little while back)

@davidnjoku I wonder whether my kids would have thought of that though, they've only ever seen TVs controlled by remotes...

@sarble Yes, same as mine.

I'm ashamed to say that I thought of installing the TV's app before I thought of just using the buttons on the TV.

@davidnjoku I don't think my tv has any buttons at all ๐Ÿค” I'd have had to pull the plug. Possibly buy a new TV.
@morag I honestly started considering buying a new TV. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@davidnjoku I was well into my twenties when I got my first TV with a remote. When I first moved away from home in the early nineties, my TV was a "portable" 14" CRT - it even had a carry-handle. That first apartment was about as small as the TV, so my remote control for it was pressing the channel buttons (all eight of them) on the tv front panel with my toe from the couch. If you channel-surfed too much, you'd get a cramp in your foot.

We've come far as a species ๐Ÿ˜†
