oh god I have to pay attention to spring and fall time changes now
brb moving back to Arizona

I want to be really clear:

I honestly don't care if we stay on Standard or Saving Time; both have their pros and cons. I object to having to profoundly adjust my life twice a year for reasons that don't make sense for most people in a modern context.

@aleen I think I slightly prefer DST but not strong enough to care as long as we stop. Changing.

@ultranurd
@aleen
Same. I prefer my light in the afternoon when I can use it.

But I'll deal with standard time if I have to, just to stop the changing!

@aleen

Agreed. I am so tired of suffering through collective jet lag twice a year.

I do have a preference for one of them, but which one isn’t really important.

@aleen not only should the time not change twice a year, but actually there should be no time zones. The whole world should be on UTC. China makes this work.

@afwaller @aleen order of preference:

  • whole world as UTC, never changing
  • timezone closest to real noon modulo regional boundaries, no DST
  • whatever but at least no DST
  • none of the above / further discussion
  • what we have now
@mirabilos
South Africa is 2nd (or third, matches too) in your list.

No DST is awesome!
@afwaller @aleen
@afwaller @aleen China does, however the Chinese people who have to deal with it would argue with you because most of them really hate it. They just aren't allowed to do anything about it, or even object very loudly.
@aleen Time zones are literally the only thing I miss about living in Arizona.
@aleen Wait, people still deal with this outside of AZ?! In fuckon 2026?!
@meowbotage almost every state still, for some reason
