One of the key problems with war is to achieve a political end (as in current US/Israeli attacks on Iran) the usual result is the partial (and sometimes almost wholesale) destruction of society & its infrastructure.

This then encounters the classic political hypocrisy of war:

attacks on us mean will all work together to defend ourselves against the attacker (the 'Blitz spirit'), while our attacks on them will weaken their resolve & drive them to the negotiating table.
