New Minetest thread the old one got depressing.
https://fedicy.us.to/cy/p/1772313123.275392Alright, now hemp means string. And string means... portable baskets!
#luanti #minetest #vidya #ShareYourGames #gaming #programmingWith these babies, my inventory problems are solved.
(They're like shulker boxes, except you're not playing a game written by a sadist who hates you.)
Alright I'll venture north this time. Who knows how long I will have to go to find the orange trees—oh hey there's orange trees, oh hey there's a second settlement.
Welcome to Mablecroft! Home of level terrain, a good weather biome, easy river access, and a big house. Friendly neighbors! And a drop into a crevice that would immediately kill me. I'll just... plug that hole up...
And they have potatoes be still my heart!
(Yes, I hacked the settlements mod to grow more crops than wheat.)
I still want to know who's interested in playing this with me. Have heard from 3 people so far!
Haha this rat is like "STAY OFF MAH LAWN!"
Nerdpoleing up, I think this settlement looks like a good place to set up shop. (My house is going to be on the far left, there.)
OK I already cleaned out the chests. Annnd... poof! Much cleaner.
Alright, got my baskets down. Time to set up shop.
Which direction to go in? Well the view from—oh. Well. Not going to have good views, if I pick the house sunk furthest into the ground. Good reason for that though!
If I take out the wall facing the dirt wall, extending my house is super easy, just by roofing off the gap and digging into the side of the hill. Of course the door will need to be relocated somewhere I can actually uh... leave.
And now, I create two very special blocks. The storage indexer, and several storage units.
I can use the storage units as an impromptu roof, and just connecting them to the indexer below... done!
Couldn't help but notice while building this, the little guy determined to get in and demolish me. Ain't he a cutie!
And now, to access the Indexer, and put.... fucking everything in there. All four baskets full of loot.
Storage units are less convenient to carry around, so I'm pretty much permanently here now, but it's a nice, simple inventory system, which I've hacked on quite extensively. All I have left to do is redo the UI, replacing the list with a grid of icons, and the 1/10/99 option on the upper left. I saw a public server do it that way and it was much easier to use.
For now, I just have to take out the things I need, and... oh, that axe is getting kind of dull.
All repaired! And without spending 20 stacks of copper to build a tool repair machine and several hydroelectric generators.
I confess I did hack the anvils mod a teeny bit, only because it's infuriating that you can only pull from it with an empty hand. My version swaps whatever tool you're wielding with the one on the anvil, which works smooth like butter, since you can leave the hammer on the anvil.
Heading out, I immediately run into a death bird. At least there's only one of them. OH GOD THERES MORE THAN ONE WHY IS THERE ALWAYS MORE THAN ONE OF THEM
Well I escaped, but I need food. And lots of nice potats here to harvest! So much trouble to replant them though. If only...
Aha! Wham! Bang! Thump. All harvested and replanted!
I fixed the scythes mod, which had a radius for each scythe, then the code was wrongly written and never used it. Also improved their grass cutting ability.
