it's pretty easy actually
@redsad how will I explain drag…? This is a solved problem and has been for decades.

@Laukidh @redsad

My son once said: "If drag was such a terrible thing, why are women some of its biggest fans?"

@redsad my mother told my son. He was eight. She insisted they were artists; it was beautiful to hear.

@redsad

on a monthly basis 😳

@redsad explaining things to kids is so easy. They don’t know anything. They’ll just believe whatever you tell them.
@redsad As someone once said, Kids are much smarter than you think: I don't know a single kid with a full time job and kids.

@redsad I miss Ernie Coombs. I remember my mother would get angry when he wore a dress on Mr. Dressup when I was really little, but even she came around after awhile.

This helped both me and her later in life. I was the one who had to explain to her, as a literal toddler, that it's okay for adults to play dress-up.

Kids understand these things instinctively, I think. Many adults just use kids as a shield.

Thank you (And thanks to Venus Envy if there were any chance of her seeing this) for this post, it brang back some rare warm childhood memories. Which is... probably really odd to say considering the 'school shooter' aspect.

@redsad my nephew's second favourite TV show (after Bluey), is drag race (with the sound off - we need a radio edit, lol).
@redsad hell it would probably be comforting that adults still play dress up

@redsad it's very easy to explain to a child that adults wear drag, have different sexual preferences, or anything else.

the thing that's hard to explain to a child is why they should have massive hang-ups about all of it and hate those people like their parents do.
