Doing research for my tech for good jobs posts always makes me want to yell at American companies that list "remote" roles when they mean "remote US".

Please y'all, other countries exist.

@jessie They don’t even acknowledge that other US states exist. The number of times I’ve found “remote in [US state] only” buried at the end of the job posting is infuriating. Thanks for wasting my time MF.

@WideEyedCurious @jessie Sometimes it makes sense. "Remote in $list_of_states" because they're only set up to pay taxes in those states, ok.

Sometimes "Remote everywhere except $list_of_states" because some places, like Ohio, have weird rules for Workers Comp or Unemployment that makes it a PITA to manage. Ok, fine.

Then there's bullshit like this. "This role is primarily remote, with rare onsite requirements. Candidates must be local to the DC Metro area and available to attend in-person meetings in Washington, DC as needed."
