That all went swimmingly! I think it's the easiest #OpenWRT upgrade I've ever done.
Being able to custom-build a sysupgrade with a list of additional packages is really neat! It handled my DNS being on a weird port, and it even maintained my crontab. I lost all the files in my home directory and I'm assuming I missed an option somewhere to preserve them. No biggy (of course I had a backup - I have many backups).
Very impressive.
