We upgraded our NBN connection from FTTC to FTTP, and because the switch to FTTP allowed us to upgrade to the Home Ultrafast speed tier, now our download speeds are ten times faster and our upload speeds are four times faster that before :)

If you're interested in the details, I wrote about this on my blog:

@ameel
Thank you for the blog :) I'm interested, did NBN physically lay a cable? Did they use the existing copper cable duct or did they dig a trench?
I am at the back of a 2 on a block setup and I can't see a way they could physically dig a trench without causing lots of disruption to me and my front neighbour

@siftinsand In our case they used the existing copper cable duct. We're the front-most unit so this may have been relatively easy, but apparently you can do this with units at the back too. Depends on how wide your copper cable duct is.

If your installation is particularly complicated, apparently they send someone over to look at the ducts and layouts a couple of days before the main installer turns up.

Hope you can get this done at your place and that the installation is super easy! 🤞

@ameel Thank you so much for this information, very much appreciated :)
