I did a #FreeBSD install test in a GNOME Boxes VM. There are a lot of choices in that installer. I think I got most of it "right." Next time I need to remember to decline setting NTP at boot. I don't need that much of a delay (and it did warn me).

I decided to try the desktop-installer package. It shit the bed on KDE -- it couldn't find the package.

Then I tried #Lumina. I got it but didn't look into the DE until after the fact. AFAICT, it's a dead project. It's OK, but I need to do a new install and try some of the other DEs via desktop-installer, which I've never used before.

desktop-installer offered to install some apps, and among the ones I went for were LibreOffice. I immediately tried to create a password-protected document, and I was surprised to learn that it works! It didn't crash the app like it did for me months ago on FreeBSD and GhostBSD, which I might want to try again (especially if this LO bug is really fixed). I hope this fix isn't just due to running in a VM vs. bare metal.

Unfortunately, I'm a little low on test machines at the moment.
