the situation with one of the wireless PtP links at work:
(the issue isn't RF absorption or anything, the issue is badly secured Cat5 cable that's probably not rated for outdoors, dropping down to 10Mbps whenever it snows)

@grawity I chased that attenuation / corrosion problem with Cat 5E lines through a moist area.

Just damp, too. Not even outdoors.

The third replacement for that run got burial-grade gel-filled Cat 5E.

Didn’t bend at all well, but also haven’t had a fourth reoccurrence. (Yet.)

And yeah, the old and green and crusty Cat 3 running parallel to that same run also got re-strung with burial-grade.
