I'm at the launderette. It's really busy. A dryer finished so someone emptied it to use the dryer, the person who owns the clothes isn't here though. 3 ladies are chatting and folding the clothes. No one knows each other. It's all rather lovely.

Who knew that sitting in the launderette showed you a sweet side of life.

Also there's a man here unsure how to do the wash, he asked me for help, and promised he wasn't a weirdo. He's not a weirdo and now lots of the women are helping him too.

@Tattooed_Mummy Wish we called it a Launderette. "Laundromat" is so clunky.

@kimlockhartga @Tattooed_Mummy the ladies at the laundrette in Croydon where I was staying at a friend's place never bothered to tell me I had to put the wet stuff in the spinny thing (50p pls) before putting it in the dryer.

I think it amused them to watch this dumb Yank keep wasting £1 coins trying to dry sopping-wet laundry because I guess UK washing machines don't have a spin cycle, before one of them finally told me about the spinny thing. This was about 20 years ago so maybe they do now.

@david

I've not used a launderette, but our domestic washing machines certainly have a spin cycle.

@kimlockhartga @Tattooed_Mummy

@CppGuy @david @kimlockhartga it's launderette machines do have a spin and it's quite effective but some laundrettes also have an extra spinning machine which is super good and gets out extra water, so you spend less on the tumble dryer. We used to have one but sadly the local launderette has been refurbed and now it's not there
