Hi from Rhode Island!

Artist, gardener, and quiet observer of the small world in my backyard.

You’ll usually find me near the feeders or in the garden watching the neighborhood wildlife. Chickadees supervise, the crows recognize me, and in summer
the bees take over the flowers.

I grow vegetables, paint some of the birds I see, and share the little moments happening right outside my door.

Nice to meet you. 🌿🐦🐝

Hi there, @celi52, happy gardening greetings from the Northwest of Germany and a very warm welcome to the fediverse!
@Engelsbaeckerei thank you. Trying to figure things out here. 🥰
@celi52
Give it some time!
You can follow certain hashtags, for instance #gardening #garden or anything that tickles your fancy. I've been here for over two years now. It took some time to get to know and interact with people.

@celi52

What a nice painting! And fabulous toms. Thanks for joining us, and I’m looking forward to hearing reports from the bird feeder!

@nellie_m Thank you! It was a photo or two zebra finches and the posture of the female to the male made me laugh. 😆 Hopefully the snow melts and we can get down to serious bird business. Except for the juncos, they are pretty peeved at me because all the snow has made it hard to get to their fav feeders. 😅

@celi52

You captured it brilliantly!

@celi52

Howdy, ' neighbor with similar interests but not artsy. I'm next door in CT.

You guys got slammed with snow!

@Sfwmson Hi neighbor👋🏻. We sure did!! Hoping the rain and warmer temps will take some of this snow away.
@celi52 hi 👋 welcome!

@celi52 Thinking about how I might get the local #crows to interact with me more. Though my dog might not like that idea.

I hear raw unsalted peanuts are the way to a crow's heart. But then I have to keep them away from the squirrels.

@crow @celi52 If you start throwing just a few peanuts when you see crows and they can (probably) see you, it won't be long before the crows grab any peanuts before a squirrel can even get close. Just don't leave a lot out at once. (In my experience. Crows have regional dialects and probably regional customs.)

@celi52

Welcome Celi! I haven’t been on in awhile but everyone is so nice here. You’ll love it.

@PeriwinkleBluejay thanks ☺️
@celi52 You’re welcome I hope you are getting acclimated here.
@celi52 Welcome to the fediverse! Pollinators are welcome. You can look at the hashtag introduction for read examples how others jump into the fediverse. And you can edit your introduction message to include the introduction hashtag. This sends your message across all the instances. Edits are easy. Hashtags are free. The block tool is your friend if your timeline gets noisy.
@celi52 Great to see you here! I love tiger lilies. They grow wild in the woods where I grew up.
@knownasrose Thanks. I had some seeds and grew this one a few years back. It took forever to finally bloom! They are one of my favorites too.
@celi52 Greetings from Western Australia (aka "Hell's Kitchen on a Bad Day"). Also a noob, but with similar interests. Be well.

@celi52

Nice to e-meet you too! Welcome to the Fedi!

@celi52 Welcome to the neighbourhood!
@celi52 Welcome! Lovely birds <3
@celi52 Hello from Maine! 👋🏼
@DoomsdaysCW hello 👋🏻 from Rhode Island !
@celi52 I'm originally from Massachusetts, but have visited Rhode Island a few times (I almost moved to Providence). 🙂

@celi52 Hi! Nice to see a neighbor on here. I'm in Mass, but right near the RI border. Moved here from RI, in fact.

I'm thinking about trying to grow some vegetables in my back yard this spring, but I've never done it before. Tomatoes and maybe potatoes, I guess. Any tips?
