@taylorlorenz Glad you asked ! I prefer to get my newsletters right here in your Mastodon feed. Emails are mostly a noisy annoyance these days, going the way of voicemails. Substack is OK, but they are spamming me hard with recommendations too.

During the non-USA investigations on election interference after 2016, it was revelaved that Bannon and Mercer worked iwth UK's SCL to create a US shell company called Cambridge Analytica who would then purchase services from SCL to spread disinformation to help certain candidates (Ted Cruz during primaries, and then Trump once he won it, Help came with Caveat that Bannon got job at WH as well as other favours.
SCL worked with Farage in Brexit disinformation.

@taylorlorenz SCL had these high profile contracts while in the past they had focused on helping despots smear any opposition candidates to ensure the despot remained in power.

Russia's Wagner Group has done the same (they were first a disinformation group, and para military second).
