What is a bad witch?
We can certainly agree that doing malicious harm to other people, like eating Hansel or Gretel, would be bad. No doubt. Nevertheless, in the historical context, the majority of people who were put on trial and accused of being "bad witches" were merely framed for their boldness, protection, and willingness to challenge authorities or establish boundaries. Or maybe one simply was independent or in the way.
Maybe we do need more "bad witches" today!
So this hat is for a modern archetype of a bold and boundarysetting, assertive version of a witch. Let's remember that some norms and society's expectations need to be challenged, because they are unfair, unjust or not healthy for your soul. Knit the hat as a nifty act of rebellion!
The cap comes in five sizes, and if your gauge is correct you can knit caps in the sizes 52/54, 54/56, 56/58, 58/60, or 60/62, which correspond to the standard hat sizes XS through XL. XS will probably also fit teenagers.
The common knitting techniques are described and explained. Two rarer techniques are shown via video. For those there are links – and additionally each one includes a QR‑code (in case you print the instructions).
