"In this video, the White House mixes real footage from the Iran strikes with a killstreak animation from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" - yeah see this is why working on any game even remotely like CoD (ie modern military gun shit) has always been a hard moral line for me. those games have done so much to normalize and glamorize (even at their most pleadingly "anti war") genocidal imperial violence, hand in glove with the US death industry.

do not reply to this with how awesome and subversive Spec Ops: The Line was for being a cynical self-hating "anti war" war game with an embarrassing amateur tomato surprise plot reveal while doing everything it could to still make war (murdering brown people) seem as fun and slick and awesome as possible. the fact that that hack piece of shit game was held up as a counterpoint to CoD is a big part of why cultural consciousness is in the toilet and the death industry controls the conversation.
