4 #Democrats blithely voted NO to limit #Trump. Had they voted YES, the #WarPowers resolution would have passed.

Nothing that's currently happening in #US would be possible without the #complicity and #connivance of the #DemocraticParty 😡

so, in other words, "nuh uh" ? You can't just say "nuh uh" and expect to get anywhere.

Anyway, Congresscritters do get together and discuss how they are going to vote. Standard practice is the party says "we need x votes for this thing that'll make our donors happy but piss off our voters, who can afford to take a PR hit right now without getting voted off."

incidentally, this is in fact a "both sides" move. It is so commonly done that it is perfectly likely that these 4 Dems do, in fact, represent the party.

Until I see the rest of them up in arms about it and attacking those 4 instead of generic "aw shucks we tried" bullshit, I'm not going to be surprised either way

95+ % of Democrats voted to check Trump, 95+ % of Republicans voted to let him go and the leftists are pushing their both sides are the same nonsense again. If anyone thought MAGA had a monopoly on living in denial of the facts, just listen to the average leftist for a bit.

This post is not about voters but the failure of those who were elected — e.g., 4 elected #Democrats. The Constitution gave them the power. Voters put them in power, and they betrayed those voters.

Compare the 'generic "aw shucks we tried" bullshit,' with what #Spain's PM #PedroSanchez had to say.

This is not a US-specific thing. The way politicians act is aligned with financial incentives, not with who voted for whom.

Oh, I can help here - I pretty much assume any red politician a complete write off. I expect them to do the worst/dumbest thing possible and they always meet my expectations.

my issue is with the party we have some hope of influencing. if this sort of shenanigan is no longer viable it gets harder for the assholes who pretend to be on the right side of history to trick the average voter, and we get a better chance of having more people who actually have the goal of unfucking things get elected.

tldr: being pissed at repugs does nothing, being pissed at the people courting our votes does a lot

To me, #MAGA and Republicans have always been a basket of deplorables— at least for last 40 years, and I did not set out to waste my 500 valuable character limit on them in this thread.
