Today I went by the SciFi bookstore and bought the new storytelling RPG Nostalgia by my friends @martinackerfors and Olle Linge.

I’m looking forward to reading it, and maybe I can convince my colleagues to try it out as well. This one is in Swedish, but it’s available in English as well. The game is about old heroes telling stories of their past achievements.

I’ve read the Nostalgia RPG book now. It is a storytelling game where the players act as old heroes telling stories about their glory days to children sitting around a campfire.

It’s very well written, with an entertaining story weaved into the rules explanation. It’s very rules light, and the rules seem to do a good job to help players tell an entertaining story together. I especially like the section describing why each rule is needed and how it helps move the story forward. The book ends with helpful randomization tables that can be used to generate the basis for stories and characters in four different fantasy genres.

I can highly recommend the book for anyone interested in storytelling games. It reminds me of games like RPG The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen, or card games like Once Upon a Time and Nanofictionary.
