Removing physical buttons from hardware was one of the worst product design decisions in history and everyone involved should be publicly shamed.
But physical buttons are subject to failure.
How can you expect to last 10 years if you keep physical buttons ?

With the possible exception of that god-awful physical keyboard on the Blackberry phones. I believe I read that it was an obsession of the CEO of Blackberry at the time that they kept a 'real' keyboard.
