Yesterday…
> Andrew played Planet of Lana II Demo, When We Arrive Demo, Gloomveil Demo, Nox Mortalis Demo, Chilling Silence Demo, Clean Up Earth Demo, Cargo Hunters Demo, Far Far West Demo, Nuclear Epoch Demo, Undertaker Demo, and Homgard Demo for the first time.
The #PlanetOfLana2 is a known quantity. I’m keeping #Gloomveil (https://store.steampowered.com/app/4248580/Gloomveil_Demo/ a Tunic-like?), and #WhenWeArrive (https://store.steampowered.com/app/4078360/When_We_Arrive/ hopefully what I wanted for a while: a game *about* travel), to investigate further.
Yesterday, which is different from yesterday’s yesterday…
> Andrew played [demos of] Echoes of Mora, Dread Fields, Withering Realms, DarkSwitch, Wanderburg, Stoneguard, Broken spirit, Comatose, Dark Sentinel, Misguided Remastered, IZON., Darkhaven, Birds Watching, Pale Abyss, Deep Snow Delivery, Crabmeat, 1348 Ex Voto, Dreadweave, Outbound, Welcome to Doll Town, and Western Rye for the first time.
Again, I’m going to dig deeper into a couple of them, but I think that’s it. Did I miss anything?
The biggest thing I realized is that demos are a great way for me to get my FOMO fix. Since they are short and free, I can figure out what people are up to these days and then go back to playing the game I was playing before, which is probably from years, if not decades, ago.
I bet developers love that! *cough*
#DeepSnowDelivery is a delivery/scavenger game set in a snowy, quiet apocalypse. It runs a bit poorly, and there’s no gamepad support. May become a good podcast game, tho.

A delivery exploration game set in a snowy wasteland. With your tank's storage bucket & claw arm, you must collect and sell junk, make deliveries between settlements, and buy upgrades. The world is treacherous. Care must be taken to keep packages (and yourself) in good condition.
It’s impossible to say whether this type of game will be good or bad, problematic or not. For now, I know that #DreadFields isn’t an actual farming game, but it uses farming as a framing device. Seems interesting, works on your Linuxes and Decks. There’s no gamepad support again, tho.
There are many games inspired by Resident Evil & Silent Hill. But here we have a more unique specimen: #ParasiteMutant is going after, as you might guess from its name, #ParasiteEve. The game uses an Active Time Bar-like system where you can run around during combat and wait for a gauge to fill in order to issue attacks and other commands. It looks nice and is steamdeckable. I have slight concern over the jiggle physics, tho.

This is a bio-horror RPG featuring a retro third-person semi-fixed camera and an ATC combat system that blends real-time and turn-based elements. You play as Nova, a Psionic Agent sent to investigate a mysterious abandoned city-island, ultimately uncovering the hidden truth and rewriting fate.
AAA! In a good way – in multiple good ways! In Mayor May Knott, you rebuild the community in a spooky but cartoony game. I don’t want to add anything more (there are songs… fudge), or make reductive comparisons (it’s like it was made by Double Fine… double fudge), and the final game could turn for the worse or peter out, but the demo is great!
With the big font, good on Steam Deck, too.

A "creepy-cozy" 3D adventure game about a shy girl who accidentally becomes the mayor of a haunted ghost town full of terrifying monsters! Solve puzzles, play minigames, listen to original songs, and interact with a variety of strange creatures to overcome your fears and create a happy community!
